TIS National – launch of Translating and Interpreting Service IS Multilingual, January 2016

​Multilingual information in the top ten languages will help non-English speakers to access interpreters. ​​

​​​The Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) is an interpreting service provided by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection for people who do not speak English. This service is also available for​ agencies and businesses that need to communicate with their non-English speaking clients.

TIS National has introduced TIS Multilingual. TIS Multilingual displays translated information in the top ten high-demand languages in three sections of the TIS National website—Non-English speakers, ​About us and H​​elp and support.
TIS Multilingual provides non-English spea​kers with access to t​ranslated information about:
*the types of agency clients they can communicate with
*how to access an immediate phone interpreter
*types of interpreting services available
*their role and options during an interpreting appointment
*useful printable resources.

TIS Multilingual upholds ​the Australian Government’s commitment to provide programmes that are fair, easy to access, simple to use, and responsive to the cultural and linguistic needs of our diverse society.
